CHC Announces Big Changes to the Heritage Revitalization Fund

Good News for Heritage Organizations!

In response to the tough financial challenges that cultural institutions continue to face, we are pleased to announce new, streamlined guidelines for all grant programs.

Highlights include:

  • Raising the ceiling for discretionary grants from $5,000 to $10,000;
  • Suspending (through November 2011) our longstanding requirement that a portion of the matching funds must come from an external (third party) cash match;
  • Limiting the mandatory application attachments and number of pages; and
  • Reducing the amount of required copies.

In addition the new guidelines feature:

  • Broader, more flexible parameters (including grant support for staff);
  • Funding to plan for organizational stabilization; and
  • Encouragement for you to re-envision and position your organizations for the future.

New Deadlines:

  • Major Grants: (Proposals seeking more than $10,000) the first business day of February, May and November.
  • Discretionary Grants: (Proposals seeking up to $10,000) the first business day of March, April, June, July, September, October and December.

Click here to learn more and to check out the new guidelines.

More help! If you are looking for information on current thinking and best practices when approaching a project, or haven't visited the site in a while, be sure to visit the CHC's Heritage Resource Center.  The HRC contains reviews of books and articles, recommendations on the most useful web sites, special reports, surveys and studies to help you and your institution.

And, as always, CHC staff is here to help.  Give us a call to discuss your proposal ideas or for any other questions.
