The New Rules of Marketing & PR: How to Use News Releases, Blogs, Podcasting, Viral Marketing and Online Media to Reach Buyers Directly

NewRulesOfMarketingAndPR.jpgThe HRC thanks Tammi Flynn, Director of Marketing for the Florence Griswold Museum, in Old Lyme, CT, for volunteering to be a guest author for the following entry and for sharing her insight and experience with our readers.

I was tired and overwhelmed reading the title.

Reaching "buyers?" I wondered if it would be relevant for my organization.

By the end, the sides of the book had over two dozen sticky notes reminding me of things to do (a few with stars and others with names I needed to pass along thoughts to).

Yes, it is a lot of information, on a lot of different topics, but well worth the time. In The New Rules of Marketing and PR, David Meerman Scott offers practical advice on the latest marketing strategies.

The sections on blogs and social media were very helpful as we put together YouMuse, the social networking page on our website.

I don't consider myself a complete neophyte when it comes to technology and online media, but there were a few times when I realized I had no idea what he was talking about, but I went to the websites he recommended and it all came together.

The book is all about business, no mention of nonprofits or museums, but most of the concepts could be easily transferred.
