READING PROGRAMS
Motheread/Fatheread Connecticut
Based on more than 125 multicultural children’s books, Motheread/Fatheread Connecticut is a national, award-winning English/Spanish family literacy program that primarily serves lower income parents with limited reading skills and uses a humanities approach to immerse parents and toddlers in reading together. The program is offered to parents through local social service and adult education agencies whose staff members have been certified to teach the Motheread curriculum through Council-conducted training institutes. As the state's exclusive representative of the program, the Humanities Council conducts intensive training institutes for program facilitators, provides complete libraries of books and materials, and offers technical support for a network of more than 80 certified Motheread agencies. Motheread/Fatheread Connnecticut funding partners Visit Program Resources for information on becoming a Motheread partner.
